Equipment

  • * Muddler

  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • * Glasses
  • Cutting board

Ingredients

  • 4 fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 4 fresh basil leaves plus more for garnish
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup optional, or use agave
  • 6 oz sparkling water or club soda
  • Ice as needed
  • Garnish: sliced strawberries basil sprig, citrus peel

Instructions

  • Add strawberries and basil to a cocktail shaker or sturdy glass. Muddle gently to release juices and oils.
  • Add lime juice and simple syrup. Fill the shaker with ice and shake for 10–15 seconds.
  • Strain the mixture into glasses filled with fresh ice.
  • Top each glass with sparkling water. Stir gently to combine.
  • Garnish with basil sprigs, sliced strawberries, or lemon peel. Serve immediately.

Notes

For Whole30: omit the sweetener and use extra ripe strawberries.
Swap lime for lemon juice for a softer citrus note.
To prep ahead: muddle the base (strawberries, basil, citrus) and store chilled for up to 24 hours.
For parties: scale up the recipe and wait to add sparkling water until serving.
